Description

Due to the popularity of the 1 oz tin format, we have made Mizuki Matcha available in 100g bags for its biggest fans. Matcha is powdered tencha* historically used in the Japanese tea ceremony. "Mizuki" means celebration, happiness, freshness, and beauty. The name was chosen to represent a beautiful green tea field, which is fitting for this ceremonial grade matcha from Yame, Fukuoka. Thick and creamy on the palate, this matcha is intensely nutty in aroma and flavor, similar to fresh pine nuts. It's rich in umami and has no astringency but leaves a lingering weight on the palate. Enjoy the extra-long finish with each slow sip.

*Tencha is a minimally-processed, fluffy leaf tea produced specifically to make fresh matcha.

Mizuki Reserve Matcha

Wonderful, wonderful matcha. I buy in bulk and keep it in the freezer so I can use a little bit each week. I feel like it's well balanced between grassy, earthy and savory - I'll drink it as a thick tea (i.e. just water) and sometimes as a soy matcha cappucino (i.e. a little bit of unsweetened soy milk). I don't think this matcha benefits from sweetener. I've tried it and it's so smooth that additional sweetness over powers it. Unlike a lot of other matcha products that are endlessly rebranded, I feel like Mizuki Reserve truly delivers ceremonial level quality at an appropriate premium. I like that buying from Sugitomo means I also support the farm more directly instead of working through the heaps of middlemen that normally populate tea distribution. I'm a big fan!

Stunning Matcha

When I drink this matcha I make sure to put my phone or book away and to savor the moment of every sip, free from distraction. It has a delicate and smooth taste that inspires mindful presence with every bowl.

In bulk 100g size so I never run out. Stays fresh in pouch in fridge. Love the Sugimoto team
